I am driven by hard problems and seek new solutions. I want this to be a place where technology meets immunology and genetics.
I’ve done a lot of varied work.
I obtained my PhD at the University of Toronto in Immunology studying mouse models of autoimmunity. I continued my journey at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Broad Institute studying the human genetics of autoimmunity.
Coleen Thompson -Research Associate IV
I graduated from The Ohio State University with degrees in Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology where I studied polyploidy plant genetics (B.Sc.) and the genetic diversity of vertebrates in protect areas (M.Sc.). Understanding the role genetics play in a wide variety of contexts is what drives me. While at the University of Cincinnati, I investigated the role of Ninjurin-1 expressed by myeloid cells and their role in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) via mouse models.
If I’m not talking science there’s a very good chance I will be discussing my love for alternative/ indie music, the latest A24 film, or my sweet pets. I also love hiking, bouldering, and a good farmer’s market.
I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Biology. At Loyola, I was involved in research investigating the molecular mechanism of AMPA receptor mobility in post-synaptic neurons. I also have prior research experience in oncogene regulation in pediatric cancers.
Outside of the lab, I enjoy baking, going for walks, running, playing golf, and have recently picked up tennis.
